The San José Chamber Orchestra (SJCO)

Announces the following vacancies:
- Associate Principal Violin 2 – Tutti Violin (1st and 2nd) Audition Excerpt.
- Associate Principal Viola – Tutti Viola Audition Excerpt
- Associate Principal Cello – Tutti Cello Audition Excerpt
Audition Dates:
- Violin positions: Tuesday, September 1, 2026 Application
- Viola positions: Wednesday, September 2, 2026 Application
- Cello positions: Monday, September 14, 2026 Application
Highly qualified applicants are invited to apply using the links above. Applications for violin and viola will be accepted until August 18, 2026 and for cello until September 1, 2026. A refundable $50 deposit will be required of those invited to audition. Preliminary rounds will be screened and fully anonymous, while final rounds will include chamber music with members of the SJCO. All rounds will be held on the same day for each instrument.
The San José Chamber Orchestra is a conductorless per-service orchestra. The service rate for the 2025-26 season was $176/service for tutti and $190/service for associate principal. Rates for the 2026-27 season are currently in negotiation. There are a minimum of 15 services for all positions, though usually more are offered.
